Pallant House Gallery houses one of the best collections of 20th century British art in the world and can be found in one of the most important 18th century townhouses in England.

Chichester Cinema at New Park has become a beloved local independent cinema in the area. In addition to film screenings, its programme features performance events, film talks and an annual international film festival.

If it’s a spot of retail therapy you’re after, you’ll find a great mix of high-street favourites and independent retailers in a heritage setting. Whilst most of the shops can be found on four main streets, which meet at Chichester’s distinctive Market Cross, you’ll also find more eclectic stores along the side streets and in areas like Draper’s Yard. You don’t need to choose between a coastline or countryside

Whether you’re into shorelines or endless countryside, you’re spoilt for choice. As well as its harbour, marina and canal, Chichester is within striking distance of the sandy, Blue Flag beach of West Wittering and the traditional seaside town of Bognor Regis. If you fancy rolling green hills, you’re in luck – Chichester is situated right next door to South Downs National Park, which is home to stunning walks set over 600 square miles.

Excellent transport connections

If you don’t drive, or you just fancy leaving the car at home, Chichester has some great transport links, thanks its mainline train station and bus services. By rail, London is accessible in an hour and 40 minutes, while Brighton is just under an hour away and Portsmouth just 30 minutes. From the bus station, you can head to numerous places, including Heathrow and Gatwick airports, which take 90 minutes and just over an hour, respectively.
